Virtual reality

Remember the scene from Hatari where John Wayne sits on the hood of the half truck with a lasso in his hand. The truck is hurtling forward at fast pace by the side of the rhino which is in between charging the truck with its horn. They finally lasso the rhino. All the ingredients of this movie were real, the people, the animals, Africa and of course the Africans.

Switch to Jurassic Park in a modern cinema hall with Dolby sound, you get the experience as though you are part of the escapade and everything appear to be so real and authentic ,nonetheless all of us know that all those animals were created in miniature and then were digitally manipulated. The result is that the virtual is more gripping than the actual.

The same is happening in the every day life, the dividing line between actual and virtual is getting fuzzy. The convergence of IT, Telecom and the hardware is altering the age old familiar format.
